UPDATE 4.9 Hero & Item Balance Changes

 Vainglory Update 4.9 is coming in hot with some fine tuning to some of your favorite heroes. We’ve included some special notes with most of the changes to help you understand our reasoning and the impact of the changes. Check out the balance changes coming for Update 4.9 below!

 


HEROES


 

Since most Anka players generally max Dance of Blades first, her engage distance was a little lackluster, especially at early levels. These changes should help her be more consistent with when and where she can pick fights with the enemy.

ANKA

SHIMMER BLADE (A)

  • Range Adjusted
    • 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12 → 10 / 10 / 10 / 10 / 12

DANCE OF BLADES (B)

  • Damage Increased
    • 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 175 → 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 200

Catherine has been a nearly un-killable force on the battlefield. This change is intended to make her windows of vulnerability just a tad bit bigger, so players can more easily capitalize when her Stormguard is down and make her a bit less unstoppable.

CATHERINE

STORMGUARD (B)

  • Cooldown Increased
    • 10s / 9.5s / 9.0s / 8.5s / 8.0s → 13s / 12.5s / 12s / 11.5s / 11s

Ishtar is still proving to be the queen of both Halcyon Fold and Sovereign’s Rise. We felt her base shield was unusually high for a carry, so we reduced that to bring it more in line with other carries.

  • Decreased Base Shield and Shield Per Level
    • 25 – 74 (levels 1-12) → 20 – 55

DEMONIC DECREE (PERK)

  • Basic Attack Crystal Power Ratio Decreased
    • 35% → 30%

BLADE WHIRL (B)

  • Cooldown Increased
    • 10s / 9.5s / 9.0s / 8.5s / 7.0 → 12s / 11.5s / 11s / 10.5s / 9s 

Joule is a hero that can dish out the damage AND take it. We wanted her to retain her identity as a tanky bruiser so we’re making changes to her primary damage tools so she can’t have the best of both worlds.

THUNDER STRIKE (B)

  • Weapon Ratio Decreased
    • 200% → 170%

Miho players have been slicing and dicing the opposition, especially after landing an impactful Tsukuyomi across the whole team. We want the downtime of her ultimate to be greater so that she has to pick and choose her moments a little more carefully.

MIHO

REIZAN (A)

  • Damage Decreased
    • 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 180 → 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 130

TSUKUYOMI (C)

  • Cooldown Increased
    • 80s / 70s / 60s → 90s / 80s / 70s

We’re giving a little bit of love to Taka’s weapon and crystal paths as well as making it easier for him to engage on his enemies with X-Retsu.

TAKA

HOUSE KAMUHA (PERK)

  • Mortal Strike Weapon Power Ratio Increased
    • 30% → 40%

X-RETSU (C)

  • Range Increased
    • 7 → 8
  • Bleed Crystal Power Ratio Increased
    • 75% → 85%

We heard you and we’re making several changes to help make Viola a little easier to play as well as opening up a path for her to become more of a hybrid Carry/Captain. We did redistribute some of her power around her kit since she has a new damaging perk.

VIOLA

MELODIOUS TUNE (PERK)

  • Basic attacks now deal crystal damage and scale with crystal power
    • Damage: 70 + 5.5 per level
    • Crystal Power Ratio: 50%
    • Weapon Power Reduced to 0

HARMONY (A)

  • Projectile Speed & Hitbox Increased
  • Barrier Increased
    • 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 180 → 50 / 85 / 120 / 155 / 225
  • Bonus Health Ratio
    • 5% → 7%

DISCORD (B)

  • Projectile Speed & Hitbox Increased
  • Crystal Power Damage Ratio Decreased
    • 150% → 120%

POWER BALLAD (C)

  • Lowered Cooldown
    • 20 / 14.5 / 9 → 15 / 12 / 9

DISSONANCE (C3)

  • Fixed a bug where the damage dealt was weapon. Now correctly deals crystal damage.
  • Burst Damage Crystal Power Ratio Decreased
    • 100% → 80%
  • Damage Over Time Crystal Power Ratio Decreased
    • 30% → 15%

LULLABY (C4)

  • Duration Of Sleep Immunity Increased
    • 30s → 45s

Weapon Vox hasn’t seen a lot of success in recent patches so we’re making his primary damage tool, Sonic Zoom, hit a bit harder. Additionally,  his resonance bounce should now deal a respectable amount of damage even while going WP since it now will scale with level.

VOX

JULIA’S SONG (PERK)

  • Resonance bounce damage now scales with hero level
    • 20 at all levels → 20 – 75 (Level 1-12)

SONIC ZOOM (A)

  • Basic Attack Damage Increase
    • 50% / 50% / 50% / 50% / 70% → 75% / 75% / 75% / 75% / 100%

YATES

IRON MANDATE (C)

  • Lowered Cooldown
    • 120s / 105s / 90s → 100 / 90 / 80
